The emblematic Grand Slam of show jumping returns to Hong Kong. The Longines Masters series is one of the most prestigious equestrian events in the world. Longines Masters will kick off season 5 in Hong Kong from 14th to 16th February 2020 at AsiaWorld-Expo, TVB Pearl will exclusively live telecast all the major exciting competitions in this 3-days event. As the established Asian leg of the series, the Longines Masters of Hong Kong combines heart-pounding competitions with the best of lifestyle, gastronomy and entertainment under one roof, showcasing world-class riders and show jumpers during this truly international experience.
To launch and celebrate this remarkable tournament, TVB Pearl, The Longines Masters of Hong Kong 2020 Press Conference takes place at Ballroom of Crowne Plaza Hong Kong Kowloon East, on 21st January. A special multi-cultural dance performed by 12 TVB dancers with glamorous equestrian look, Chinese waist-drum and the middle-east folk song “Hava Nagila” (means let’s rejoice) kicks off the press conference.
Honourable guests, Mr. SK Cheong, Strategic Consultant To The Board of Television Broadcasts Limited and Ms. Agnes Yu, Director – EEM Asia have delivered an opening speech. They also join together with Ms. Carmaney Wong, Miss Hong Kong 2019, Ms. Fei Wong, Miss Hong Kong 2019 First Runner Up and Miss Photogenic, Mr. Telford Wong and Mr. Fei Wu, to officiate the “Lucky Gong” Ceremony, signifying good fortune and the start of the tournament and programmes.
During the event, TVB Artistes have shared their horse-riding experiences with Emcee Ms. Heidi Chu. They have introduced this year’s equestrian events, and TVB’s programme arrangement and production. Professional commentator Mr. Simon Kong as well as Hong Kong Junior Riders Issac Wong and Owen Wong present to share their learning experience of horse-riding and the way to keep the best condition of rider and horse during the competition. With the slogan “Feel the Vibe, Enjoy the Ride”, artistes show their support to all Hong Kong riders representing Hong Kong to participate in the tournament.
Main sporting events of the Longines Masters of Hong Kong include the Hong Kong Jockey Club Trophy, HKJC Asian Challenge and HKJC Asian Junior Grand Prix; Longines Speed Challenge and Longines Grand Prix of Hong Kong; HKIA Masters Power Trophy and DBS Trophy. The total prize money is 685,700 USD. It will be a chance for world-ranked riders to win the Grand Slam of Show Jumping as the closest warm-up competition ahead of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The three-day event is shaping up to offer quality live sports entertainment with world elite show jumping at the forefront while bringing VIPs, global business leaders, equestrian enthusiasts and family and friends together.
